The Department of Physics of the University of Cagliari and the Section of Cagliari of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics have decided to propose again this year Masterclasses in Particle Physics, a well-established event which is attended annually about 10 thousand secondary school students of 50 nations on different continents.
The event consists in allowing students attending the last two years of high school to make a measurement in the field of elementary particle physics, using real data, obtained for example in the detectors installed at the LHC accelerator of the European Center for Nuclear Research ( CERN) in Geneva, with the assistance of young researchers and software programs specifically designed to make the experience simple and captivating. The results obtained will be discussed and presented by the students themselves in audio / video connection with CERN and other participants.
The activities will be held online only, on the 6th and 25th of February, 2021, from 14.00 to 17.00. Participation will be limited to 65 students distributed in the two events. Students will be selected on the basis of interest.
The deadline for registration is on February, 1st. More information are available at the following link: https://divulgazione.dsf.unica.it/wp/masterclasses-2021/
